All sports are defined by their greatest moments. The video above shows what may have been swimmings greatest moment. This race is the 4X100 meter freestyle relay from the 2008 olympics in Bejing. Just a bit of backstory going into the olympics this was one of the most built up races of the swimming portion of the olympics. The french relay and USA relay were the two heavy favorites and French swimmer Alain Bernard made headlines when he said "The Americans? We're going to smash them. That's what we came here for." This was the race everyone was waiting to see, and it didn't disappoint. I will never forget the thrill of watching this live. The USA coming up huge with a comeback on the worlds biggest stage.The thing is there are moments like this in swimming that are missed all the time due to lack of media coverage. This was not only the greatest swimming moment I have ever watched but one of my more fond sports memories in general. Watch, Enjoy, and try not to get chills. Wouldn't it be great to see more of this?
